Thistle Springs Trout Farm
What a great time! We didn’t need a fishing licence and had a blast! We went as part of a school trip and really enjoyed ourselves. The pricing is based on the size of the fish you catch, plus a $5 per fisherman/fisherperson/fisherkid/fisherwoman….. The only catch (other than the fish) is that you have to keep everything you catch. So if you catch a 10″ trout, you keep it and pay for it (a 1 foot trout cost only $3). It is close to the city as well, so it makes it an easy morning/afternoon trip with the kids.

By the way, the fish we caught were not big ones by any means. A 10″ and 12″ trout (Rainbow I think). So you are probably not going to bring home dinner for 4, but it is agreat way to introduce your kids to fishing!

Another option is a trip to one of the local lakes and fish away. Check out the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources for information regarding what kind of licence you need for a day trip to a local lake, or for a season licence so that you can fish when you are visiting “the lake” this summer.
