Ottawa Family Fun

What is going on at Marjor’s Hill Park:

• Splash ‘N Boots - (Saturday@ 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.; Sunday @ 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.)
• Val Hilliker - (Saturday @ 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.; Sunday @ 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m.; Monday@ 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.)
• John Park – The Funny Waiter Show: Saturday@ 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.;Sunday@ 11:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.;Monday@ 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m)
• Chris Pilsworth (Monday, May 23 @ 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.)

Basically show up to Major’s Hill Park and enjoy. There is plenty to do and enjoy.

Now, if you don’t want to go to the Tulip Festival, what should you do….

1. The CDI Ottawa Spring Classic is taking place this weekend at the Nepean National Equestrian Park (401 Corkstown Road
Nepean, ON). I believe this competition is open to the public for viewing. It might be nice to take the kids to see the horses and the competition.
2. Valleyview Little Animal Farm (4750 Fallowfield Road, Ottawa, ON). Is another great place to take the kids to enjoy a morning or afternoon learning about farm animals.
3. Hop in your vehicle and drive to Eganville to explore the Bonnechere Caves. (www.bonnecherecaves.com)
4. Or head south and enjoy the opening weekend of the Upper Canada Village Heritage Park (http://www.uppercanadavillage.com)
5. You could always take the scenic route out of town to visit the Hershey Factory in Smith’s Falls and return by going through Merrickville (http://www.realmerrickville.ca) for a picnic on the way home. The kids might not appreciate it, but there is a Fine Arts Festival going on in Merrickville this weekend. But if you bribe them with the chocolate you bought at the Hershey Factory, you might be able to go off and look at some art. I will probably volunteer to stay at the park with the kids (*and have some chocolate ) while my wife checks out the art.
6. You could always just let the kids help you in the garden. They will be filthy, but it will be a lasting memory (especially if there is any mud involved!)
