Time to replace your Christmas Lights…think LED this year (and from now on)
LED Christmas lights have been around for a few years, but this is the year you will see them take off! The price has finally come down enough to compete with the traditional incandescent bulbs for cost at the cash register. Where you will save HUGE is on your electricity bill and replacement costs.
These LED lights will last almost forever. I think the estimate on many sites has been 200,000 hours of use. That is over 20 years of use 24 hours a day!
The replacement cost (or the ability to keep adding to your collection) is enough to convince me, but I can actually be “green” and have Christmas lights too! These lights use 90% less electricity than your traditional bulbs. I would like to suggest that if you have to go out and replace your Christmas lights this year that you give the LED lights a try.
In summary, here is a list of the pros for LED Christmas lights:
- Last over 20 years
- Low energy consumption (thus saving on electricity bills)
- Bulbs are made of non-breakable (or hard to break) plastic
- Do not got hot
- Did I mention they last for 20 years and use 90% less energy!!!!
- indoor/outdoor use on many models
If anyone out there does decide to buy, you can find them at Canadian Tire, Home Depot and probably several other stores around the city.
