Nothing to do….
Nothing to do in this town with the kids ….. ARE YOU CRAZY!
You may feel like the summer is done, finito, complete, but we still have a few weeks left in August! The end of August and September are the best time of the year to get out and have some fun! Get on those bikes you only took out once, go for a hike, start to take an evening walk as a family…. Just get out and enjoy what is left of summer…
Head out to Saunder’s Farm this weekend…. don’t wait until Halloween, go now!!! You will enjoy yourself!
If you have a GPS finder, maybe give Geocahing a try with the kids… What is Geocaching? Basically someone hides a “cache” (A treasure box to the kids) with little items in it. You login to one of the Geocaching websites and get the co-ordinates (the location) of the cache. You then pull out a few maps and go for a hike/bike/drive or all of the above to find the cache. When you do find it, you sign a log to say when you found it, what you took and what you are leaving… this is important…. you take something out, but you are also required to leave something in exchange. This helps to ensure that there is always a “treasure” for the next geocachers to come along. For more information, visit www.Geocaching.com. Here are some in the west end… this is becoming very popular…..
I am going to look into the cost of renting a GPS device for the weekend and will post what I find. I could see it as a great side adventure to do with the kids, but you don’t want to go and drow a whack of cash on a GPS if you can rent one a few times a year (if you really get into it, it would justify the expense and you will know what to buy as well….I have a feeling that GPS devices are a part of the cel phone confuse-opoly). If anyone has any info on renting GPS devices in the Ottawa area, or purchasing one at a reasonable price, please send me your comments….
